Looking into the future of materials

After a bit a secondary research, it is clear to see that even though leather is durable and ages well, over time the treads in the leather start to separate and it becomes bigger and looser. Leather is a material with a high level impact on the environment- it has an impact on our live stock, it uses polluting chemicals during the process of fabrication and causes air pollution.

Plastics are durable and biodegradable. Plastics are resistant however is hard to recycle- food for thought, do we want our consumers to feel like they can just throw away what we offer them or do we want them to feel the material is special and good to earth?
The future of plastics is bright, scientist are now researching new forms of producing plastics, a promising alternative maybe fructose?
